1.) Evaluate: What are the good/ strong parts of your vessel(s)? What is done well?
The strong parts of my vessel is the abstract shape. The vessel was supposed to be a flower but it looks more like a shell. I think that the texure and the shape is done well because it is not smooth and it is not normal.
2.) Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project?
I think that I could have done better at the formation of the vessel itself. I also could have done a better job of keeping the sides the same thickness.
3.) Describe the attributes of your form: Is it short, tall, wide, thin, thick, rounded, squared, etc.? How?
My vessel is wide and rounded. The shape is abstract. The base is round. I made it this way so it can hold a votive candle.
4.) Describe the texture of your project's surface: Is it rough, smooth, stippled, contured, organic, ornamented, etc.? How?
My vessel has an organic texture. I took a sponge and stippled the outside. I did this because I did not want it to be perfectly smooth.
5.) What do you conclude about making clay projects using the pinch technique? Why?
It is very hands on and I like the unevenness of the clay. I think that it is difficult to do but it is fun.
6.) Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
I learned that I will not have my projects be perfect in clay class. I realise that this is not a 2D or 3D medium. This is 4D and I cannot have things be perfect. I learned that I cannot have things perfect in life.
7.) Evaluate on the meaning of your pinch vessel: Why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? Elaborate...
My vessel was supposed to be a calalily. It ended up being an abstract vessel that can hold a candle.
8.) What skills/strategies will you apply on the next clay project? Why?
I will use more slip to even out the sides of the vessel so they will be more uniform. I will do this so My project will not break.
